newbie sequencer software?

hi all,

I have a demo of fruity loops and am finding it very complicated to use. I have very rudimentary understanding of music production.

I am looking for a maybe simpler and easier to use program that will allow me to do very simple beat slicing to take sampled grooves and match the timing to the other tracks in a song; loop samples together on different tracks to make a song, import sampled instruments, etc. Very basic stuff.

Any suggestions? Should I keep struggling with Fruity Loops?

thanks!

great leads, i will check these out.

they don't seem to have any beat slicing feature though -- for taking a sampled drum beat, synching it up to other beats in the song before looping it into the background.

is there a sequencer that does this, or can I get something that will slice beats specifically? maybe shows bpms of different loops so that they can be matched?

thanks for the help.

hi again, it looks like those programs don't work well with looping or have time synching/ time stretching for matching up tempos of different tracks.

any suggestions of programs that do?
thanks!
