What are your system specs and OS? Virus definitions are up to date?

Have you tried another mouse? what motherboard are you using? how old is it, have you made any updates or hardware changes recently? Are there any other problems or is this the only one?

Is that PCI slot fan in the first PCI slot next to the AGP slot? If so, move it down one slot. Cards in the first slot often conflict with the vid card.

Several folks I know have had problems with mouse or keyboard that are usb connected. Using the usb to PS2 adapter and plugging them in to the correct PS2 ports solved their problems. Might work for you.

Make sure power management is not enabled on your USB root hubs.

Just out of curiosity, are you using any McAfee software? Or Roxio?
