Boom Norton Ghost

arial black
I have been reading some comments on Norton Ghost. I was recommended to buy this by a knowledgable friend who 'ghosts' his set up and when he encounters problems, clears his system and reinstalls ( if that is the term) his whole machine. Like one of the other people taliking about this system I have read the maual once but feel it will need another go before I have confidence. I think I will construct an old machine and try it out on that first, then I can always scrap and restart.

I would welcome any advise on what is the best way to start.

The latesest incarnation of ghost (2003 on I believe) is very user friendly. It does'nt need Dos like the old ones, and can run right from XP. It is now a simple click "make disk" here, "restore disk" voila! done!

Hi pcoldy,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!

The best way to start is to read the manual. It's a fairly easy program to use, once you've used it a couple of times, but many feels it's difficult. Practicing on an old unit is a good idea. One point, thought, is *always* doulble check your Ghost image immeditately after making it. It doesn't do any good to find out your backup is corrupt 3 weeks after you made, and now need it...

TIA

Smile Norton Ghost

Thanks for your reply. I have many old machines given to me when other upgraded which I use to modify then pass on to other old bods like me. Surprising how they get interested once started. That is why I want to use the Norton Ghost. I want to load all the machines the same with little trouble, then I can get them out of trouble easily because they will all be the same!
