Pana Link-Multi Function, won't open

I have a seven year old Panasonic Multi function machine (KX FM 220), which is an answering machine, and also will automatically recieve faxes to my PC.
This machine is a true gem, that has stood the test of time like no other piece of hardware I have ever owned ie. Windows 98, 98se, ME, XP, XP SP2, truly unbelievable!

The software, Pana Link, is launched at startup, and an icon resides in the tray at the bottom next to the clock. Normally, I right click on it, and a context menu appears, and I choose "Restore" which opens the SW interface, allowing me to view incomming faxes (among other functions).

Just lately, all it does when I select "Restore", is place a link in the task bar (like a program that is minimized), if I click on the link, the link disappears without opening the program. The same thing happens if I goto start>all programs> Panalink. This started when I took my slave HD out & put in another slave HD to retrieve some data, then put my slave HD back in. Note that the Pana Link SW is on my primary HD. This could merely be a coincidence.

This is what I have done thus far to try to fix the problem:
1. Uninstall Pana Link, and re-install from the original download.
2. Uninstall Pana Link, and downloaded a fresh copy of the SW from Panasonic's web site, and installed it.
3. I have submitted a support request to Panasonic a couple of days ago, but I doubt they are going to support this SW, since it is so old.
4. I have used "System Restore" to a couple of previous dates, however I have system restore turned off on all partitions except the OS partition.
None of the above has fixed the problem.

So my question is:
1. Can anyone point me to a solution, that I may have overlooked?
2. Is there another SW program that I could use for this machine?

a couple of side notes:
1. I only use this for incomming faxes, (not outgoing), and answering machine functions.
2. This machine will still recieve faxes directly to the machine, but this is not a viable option, since I recieve nightly junk faxes, and I don't want to waist paper & ink on them.
