can Word2K abbreviations be copied to new pc?

Is it possible to copy the self made abbreviations in word 2000 to a new pc?
My mother's pc has just been replaced with a new one, with a new office installation. On the old one she had lots of self made abbreviations in Word.
Is it possible to get them all into a new installation, without having to remake them one by one ? Can anyone tell me where these are saved?

Are you talking about macros? They *should* be stored in normal.dot.

I asked my mother how she makes the abbreviations, she says she uses autotext for it (select the word and press alt-F3), so not by macro's i am afraid. Is there any way these autotexts can be copied to a new installation?

Thank you for the help

I am not positive that this would work, and it could not hurt to try, but it sounds like if you took the template over to the new computer they would be there

the templete is in a hidden folder so you will ned to make sure you have done teh following first, go to:

Windows Explorer --> Tools -->Folder Options --> View Tab and check the radio button for 'show hidden files and folders' the file you want in word is called normal.dot
