Delete desktop icon ????

I terminated a program mod download that was going to take over two hours. When I did this, it left a setup.exe icon for the program on my desktop.

Subsiquently, I found a better download site and got the program in 22 minutes and installed it.

When I attempt to delete the desktop exe icon, I get this message:

"Cannot delete gtr_demov2.exe. It is being used by another person or program.
Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

I then did a search to see where the program my be in use and got this"

gtr_demov2.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Jim\desktop

The program is not in use and I still cannot delete this rascal. It is not causing me any problems, I just know it's there and I don't want it to be.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Right click the desktop and go to Arrange Icons By, then on the pop up menu see if Lock web items on desktop is checked, if it is, uncheck it. If that was not it then run msconfig to see what all is in the startup tab, maybe something concerning that program is now starting all the time when windows starts, uncheck it, then reboot, if that was the prob then you should be able to delete it, if that was not it though then try booting into safe mode and delete it from the desktop in safe mode should do the trick.
