Video/Audio Editing

This isn't really a problem, but more of searching for a recommendation. I have some video files that I want to edit. Maybe chop a couple seconds off the video, and mute out audio for a second or so at a couple plays. Any advice on simple software I could use to do this? I tried some free trials- vegas and ulead video studio, but I couldn't figure out how to mute audio at a couple sections. Free or under $100 preferred. I tried the demo of ulead video studio, but I can't figure out how to mute/delete small sections of the audio.

I know you could use that, but I want to edit the audio in a video file. If anyone can recomend a good program where I can extrat audio from the vid and put the audio back in after editing, that would work to.

You can extract the audio with goldwave or audacity.

You can add a sound effect (in this case, the audio track) with almost any video editing program.

Send a message via AIM to damontgo
You need to separate the audi and video signals in order to edit them separately.

Adobe Premiere Elements is under $100 and easy to use. Comes with tutorials and is very powerful compared to others in it's class. Being that it's based on the industry flagship Premiere Pro, it's got a ton of backbone, but a fairly easy learning curve.
