Problems with spyware

I recently had problems with my windows xp locking up when I went to log off a user and I could only get two users logged in at once. I found my problem to be in my spyware (webroot spy sweeper). I turned it off so it wasn't running in the background all the time. I have 512mb of ram. Has anyone had a problem like this or complaints with webroot spyware?

Thanks

As far as I can tell, webroot is legit, however, outdated.

If you seem to be having problems and have narrowed it down to that, ditch it. Make sure you run adaware and spybot.

Talking Problems with spyware

Hi Garym, had the same problem, but its webroot. This is what I do with Webroot Spysweeper, on the left side panel of their control panel I click options and then a screen opens up and you click update definitions and then update program and it does it. But you also have to do what Force Flow said and go to and download spybot and then go to Lava-soft and download Ad-ware Se,both are free but if you want to get a real delight at the left hand side of Spybots control panel at the top click Mode and then click advanced so you get a check mark on the advanced tab and let her go. I run all three plus Spyguard and Spyblaster. Go to Zonealarm and download their fire wall which is also free but fantastic. Zone alarm has this thing that when spyware tries to come in it will give you an alert and what is really scary is, something you wouldn't suspect, it also tells you when a program is trying to get out all by itself. Them go to Grisoft.com and download their free anti virus, then go to Avast and do the same. What is really fun is trying to configure all these programs to run together. I took me a long time to learn a little bit but now I go looking for Spyware and Virus just to practice cleaning it up and learning how to configure all the different stuff. Lastly I wouldn't go get that new M$ antispyware beta. Good luck Chiquito, I hope you didn't fall asleep with this letter treastie.

Why not? It appears that this is actually one of the BEST antispyware apps out there now.

Yeah - and this can be a REAL headache, overkill can be worse than not enough - especially when it comes to multiple antivirus apps in the background all fighting each other.
