Win32/Mkar
Does anyone know how I would get rid of the Win32/Mkar virus from my Battlefield Vietnam install cd-rom. I have AVG and it will not let me install the game becuase it detects the virus. Since it is read only I cannot do anything to remove them. The following files appear to be infected:
D:\Support\Chinese\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\English\US\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\English\UK\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\French\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\German\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\Italian\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\Japanese\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\Korean\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe D:\Support\Spanish\eReg\Battlefield Vietnam TM_EZ.exe |

You can't get rid of it, a CD is read only.

Try sending the CD back to the manufacturer it shouldn't come with a virus embedded in the game, or is this a download from the internet?
You could take the chance of copying the CD to your hard drive and then cleaning it and recopying it to a new CD.

This seems to be a problem with AVG, I disabled the resident shield and installed BF VN with no problems then I ran Trend Micro's Housecall and found nothing yet AVG finds a virus and heals the files. I ran the game for months with no problems or viruses then suddenly AVG finds this so-called virus, it must be detecting a simular filename for the virus. AVG reports it to be Win32/Mkar.k when a search on google shows nada but plenty for when you search for Win/32.Mkar: Win32.Mkar.e, W32/Mkar.gen, W32.Marak, Win32/Mkar.G, W32/Mkar-E

I disabled the resident shield in AVG and installed Battlefield Vietnam with no problems. I then did a virus scan and it deleted the virus. Everything appears to be fine now.
