Calling Adobe experts

I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional. I understand I should be able to edit a .pdf file with this software. Is this true?, if so, how??

Yes you can. If not protected with a password (unless you know it of course

Standard and Professional can both do this.

How do you do it then? I have converted MS Word and Quark Xpress documents to pdf with 6.0 Professional and have not seen a way to edit the text, etc, on the pdf. I have not used a password on the pdf's.

Modifying an existing .pdf document with Acrobat Professional isn't as easy as it sounds. But you can change/modify some things. The manual has an entire chapter dedicated to this topic.

It will allow you to change some elements on the PDF, especially text elements. For example, if you go to Advanced Editing (from the Tools menu) and select touch up text, you can now add and delete text to the existing PDF document. There are a number of tools on Adobe Acrobat that will allow you to edit the PDF. In addition, Acrobat will also let you convert from PDF to various other formats - for example it should be able to get you back to a word document (am using 7.0 Pro - and the conversion utilities are further refined).
