Alternative TV Tuner programs
Ok my Avermedia UltraTV TV tuner card is installed. I constantly installled and reinstalled the software and when loading it says "Ultra TV has encountered and error and needs to close". I finally got it working and watched TV, then I hit close, and got this same error, it hasn't worked since. Since I don't know if I'll be able to fix the problem, I was wondering if there's any alternative TV programs that will work with any card. Thanks.

The only one I'm familiar with is Beyond TV. Never used it, but it's suppose to be pretty good. It's about $70, though... They may have a list of compatible cards on their site.

Try Showshifter. One of the best.
There are about 50 others. Click on the Tools link at www.videohelp.com and search for "Capture". |

Thanks for the vote of confidence, ComputerNut. Does it get *all* available channels? That's my main gripe with the supplied program with my AIW, is that it only shows ("supports") about 70% of the channels I can get.

Well Beyond TV does support Satellite signals, my friend who uses satellite has it and, it gets all his hundreds of channels. I only have basic extended cable, but it really does a good job of finding whats available. Im not sure about how other TV Programs grab the proper listings, but Beyond TV asks for your area code and location, and it will tell you the cable provider in that particular area, and it will download the correct listings for which provider you select.

Try Virtualdub. Yes it has a built in tuner
![]() I use it exclusively for avi captures. For serious mpeg caps, I use Intervideo WinDVR 3. |
