when i go into C: --> windows there are a tons of different things in there any way that i can even begin to sort them out tell what i need and what i don't?? Also if i go into C: --> program files there are some folers in there like Xerox and cygwin that i want to delete but when i try to it tell sme that i don't have administrative access and that they can't be deleted. I do have administrative rights b/c i checked and i'm log on an the admin. Any ideas why i can't access them then?? thanks in advance.

Just use add/remove
Add/remove programs. Why are you deleting folders, do you suspect a virus? The xerox folder will come back, even if you delete it, I think, and it's not spyware or anything. The other one, (cygwin) I don't know, but if you delete folders randomly you can cause errors. If you just need disk space then use disk clean up
