Will Audacity edit LARGE Audio files?
I've seen Audacity and Goldwave recommended many times here as audio editors. Do they work for large audio files? A friend has CDs of public speaking that were recorded directly to CD and last around an hour. Its one large file that needs to have lulls or sounds edited out. I assume that means the whole file would have to be downloaded to the pc then edited and the new file burned again. Would Audacity do this? If not, I would appreciate any recommends. Roxio's Sound Stream wouldn't do this would it?
Thanks |

Audacity, Goldwave, Soundforge, whatever...size doesn't matter, providing you have the room on your hard drive.
Personally, I use Goldwave a lot for simple stuff, and Soundforge for the more complicated. I have no idea what Roxio Soundstream is, I won't let Roxio anything, anywhere near my computers.

I've had a lot of problems with Roxio myself lately. Thanks for the information, reboot.

To me it seems that whether Audacity can handle large audio files or not, really depends on your system specs. If you have a good CPU, RAM, HDD space, etc. then it will work efficient. If not....well you know the rest.
