Angry Fire Probs with vid card!

Recently I had to reformat because my RAM had errors and a large portion of my harddriver became corrupt. Afterwards I reinstalled WoW. But was unable to launch the game to get the patch because my ATI 9800 pro 128mb didnt have hardware acceleration on. when i tried to turn it on the system reset and it was still off. the menu where you change the agp setting says if it becomes unstable it will change the setting back. I went on ati's site to see what was going on. I downloaded the newest catalyist and it didnt help. so i came to the conclusion that it might be that i hadn't updated my chipset driver yet. when i went on intel's site i couldn't find a driver for my board. I have an asus P4P800-E deluxe. It says it is "Intel 865PE + ICH5R." But i wasnt sure what driver since there was no 865pe on intel's site. There was a 865PERL 865PERC and 865PESO. I also thought i would update the BIOS, which ive never done before. please explain what to do with the ROM file to update the BIOS. Or anyother suggestions (other than get an Nvidia, cuz i figured that out already) to get my video card running at AGP 8x like it and my mobo are rated for.

Thanks

Hmm im thinking you might wana try installing omega drivers. You should always use omega drivers anyways when using radeon cards. It brings the FPS way up compared to catalyst drivers. That might solve your problem though. im trying to think what it means by hardware acceleration. possibly directx or something? although that would have probably gotten installed when you put the game on.

by hardware acceleration i mean agp 4x and 8x. i cant run in either. and I just realized that HL2 over installed DirectX 9.0c with 9.0b. I got all the updates downloaded and am able to play. But if i can turn on agp 8x, it would undoubtedly help. Where can i get omega drivers? and are they supported/functional with WoW?

Alright i downloaded the newest omega driver based on the catalyist 5.1 driver. Havent tested to see a dif in performance, but i still cant turn on hardware acceleration. thinkin it might be the chipset, but i dont know how to update the driver. any input would help.

yeah i run omega drivers all the time with WoW and my frames went from around 40-50 in highest settings to about 90-100. Thats a huge performance increase on a 9800pro.
