Smiley Central...smileys, safe or not?
I've downloaded the "Smiley" pack before from www.smileycentral.com but don't necessarily care for the "mywebsearch" feature, which is not needed, as I use Google exclusively for my searching when needed.
Is there a way to only get the use of the "Smiley's" without having the "Mywebsearch" portion of the pack? One of the problems I encounter, is I use a program "Spysweeper" which I run on occassion to clean up my computer of spyware, adware etc., and it seems to clean out files from this Smiley pack, thus making it so it doesn't work! I find it can jazz up the odd e-mail when needed...basically the same as when using smiley's here on this site! I thought I would see if any of you folks use such programs as this, or know of others that perhaps work better? Thanks for your time. Dale |

NO! NO. No.
Didn't you wonder when your spyware app removed stuff so they didn't work? What a waste of bandwidth, and you are also forcing everyone you send an email to, to download and install the exact same spyware, so they can see the smilies. Stuff like this should be illegal

Uninstall the smiley pack as soon as possible, and then run a Spybot and an AdAware scan, and hope that it gets rid of everything.
If you really want something like the Simely pack, check out SourceForge.net and see if they have anything comparable. |

Not sure if you noticed...as when I asked this question, I mentioned I downloaded it "BEFORE", on a different computer, and came up with the mention problems.
I haven't downloaded it onto either of my two "newer" computers at home now, as I thought I would ask here first...to see how safe they where. Looks as if I shouldn't do so! Seems like a wonderful program (Smileys) if only it didn't come with all the other garbage! There must be a "safe" set of smiley's similar? I liked the ability within Smileycentral.com to somewhat make up your own "sayings" within the given smileys. Thanks for your advice...much appreciated. Dale |

Like I told you before, check out SourceForge.net as they have thousands of open source projects, and so they probably have something that will be close to what smileycentral offered.
