Question PC-cillin needs IE?? Why??

I just bought PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 to replace my Norton AV and Zone Alarm based on the great reviews I read about it in Statica's review. ( I always believe anything Statica says) I have not installed it yet, I am looking for any potential problems before I proceed. I tried to run the Trend Micro House Call virus check from their web site, and it said it only supported IE as a browser. I have given up on IE and am very happy with Firefox. I called their tech support and got right in, good news. But they told me that IE is also necessary to install PC-cillin. Once installed it will work with Firefox. I want to use it, and recommend it to friends, for use with Linux. Does anybody know a way to install it on a PC that does not have IE installed?

I have 2003 and it didn't need IE. Have you tried installing it yet?

RGS,

Using a Linux machine, you realize you have virtually no worry of contracting a virus. It is much more likely you would pass one along in an email by accident if anything. While that is a fantastic program for Windows Users, you don't need it. You should just use one of the free Linux AV's out there. F-Prot and ClamAV both have free (for home use) versions that are great.

Ummm... PC-cillin isn't meant to run on anything EXCEPT windows... it's not gonna install on Linux.

The only reason you need IE for PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005 is the registration. Once the registration is over, the program does not utilize your browser at all.

Thanks everyone. I will switch my windows machines over to PC-cillin and add your helpful information re Linux to my file of stuff to look into when I get the 1st Linux machine built.
Edit: I just found my answer, Trend Micro does support Linux!!
I found this on their web site. I do not know why their support tech didn't know about this.

"Comprehensive Virus Protection for the Linux Platform
Trend Micro™ ServerProtect™ for Linux™ provides comprehensive real-time protection and cleaning against computer viruses, Trojans, and worms for Linux servers and desktops. Managed through an intuitive, Web-based management console - now with Mozilla™ support - ServerProtect allows centralized virus scanning, pattern updates and event reporting. ServerProtect can easily manage virus maintenance tasks such as initiating on-demand scanning, printing/exporting/purging virus logs and setting parameters for real-time scanning."
