Changing MS Outlook Main Acct. Name
Well I got a call from someone today that I messed something up, which I did. I misspelled the last name when installing Windows XP and Office XP on an upgrade i did last week. XP's setting/name I don't think will matter. I do need to change the name for Outlook though. When the user sends mail it shows up in others inboxes with the misspelled last name I used to register Outlook (Office XP). Any way to change this, or am I stuck reinstalling Office XP? Since it was just a week ago, for once this will be a customer who hasn't lost the disk (yet)...lol.

Try Tools>email accounts>View or change existing e-mail accounts. Click next, highlight the account & then click change. You should then be able to change the settings you need to.

Will that work even though I registered it under the misspelled name? I was going to try that, but wasn't sure if it would fix it. Times like these I kick myself for using Thunderbird. I should install Outlook and have a dummy account just so I can try these things before I go onsite. You should see me trying to give a customer phone support for an app I never personally use, and don't have on the computer to reference to. I like Thunderbird better, why can't the world bend to my will and stop using Eudora and Outlook....lol J/K

Also search the registry for the misspelled name. Change it when found.

That worked fine, Cheryl, Thank You.
I got lucky EzyStvy, no need to go into that mess...lol. I looked just for fun, and I am pretty sure that info was encoded in hex, so I am glad I didn't have to go around decoding and converting various registry files from hex to ascii/ansi.
