Software recommendation please

Last year, I spent most of the month of October touring China. I now have a many pictures that I would like to put in a presentation that could be viewed by friends using their CD player and their TV's. I want to include a dialog and to be able to include some music as well. I know nothing about what software might be best for this and also think the learning curve for its use will probably be steep. Does anyone have a recommendation(s)?

I'm not sure, but I think that Pinnacle Studio 9 would do this.

You might as well see if you can do it with Windows Movie Maker before you go out and buy a new piece of software.
