I have a friend with a new Dell laptoop running XP home . She says the puter will shut down by itself. Any thoughts on this? I suspect a virius. She runs norton, but i don't think she knows how to keep it updated. What do you think? Thanks in advance- Chas

I have seen this behavior from XP machines with bad chips in the RAM.
Also, chime in here if anyone is more knowledgable on this subject but doesn't XP have a feature that automatically reboots on system errors? I believe I saw something about this in a thread from last December or so... If memory serves me correctly you can disable this feature. -Kev
