Miranda IM
This is a nifty, highly configurable, instant messenger I have been using for about 2 months now. I would give it an 8 out of 10
Miranda IM Website So far the best part about this little instant messenger is that it is extremely configurable. There are hundreds of plugins you can download from the Miranda site. The only complaint I have had is it takes some effort to figure it out. But once you do you'll have an IM prog. that you will never want to be rid of. The base program comes with IM protocols for AOL IM, MSN, IRC, and Jabber.( My apologies if I mised any.)You have to download the Yahoo IM Protocol Plugin from the Miranda website, but it was as easy as unzipping it into the plugin folder. Ex. Plugins(These are the few that I have had experience with): Yahoo IM Yahoo Mail Notifier Gmail Notifier RSS Feeds Miranda IM is also skinnable. There are many on their website to choose from. You can also put just about any background image you would like. Another great reason to use this IMer is its small amout of resources used. I could write pages on the different customizations you can do to this IM prog, but I would be awhile and I need to go to bed soon, but I will leave you with these pros and cons. Pros: Highly configurable. Just about any IM protocol you can imagine. Not a resource hog. Cons: Takes some effort to learn, but nothing more than an hour worth of your time. Hope you guys liked this review, and hope you like the program. Last edited by dragonxx4; 04-07-2005 at 05:36 AM. |
