Alternatives To Nero

Can anyone suggest DVD/VCD burning software that's faster than Nero. Holy crapola, Nero takes forever to transcode. Tried Ashampoo and thought it was a lot faster but wasn't compatable with all formats.

Your problem is the transcoding. It doesn't belong there. The burning process will always take the same amount of time, and is determined by the DVD burner.
You should always use files that are ready to burn, and encode/transcode using another software.
What are you transcoding ? DVD-9 to DVD-5 ? If so, you can use DVD Shrink. Also try Nero Recode and CloneDVD, I don't know which one is faster.

Hi there, I guess there are a few ways of looking at this. What are you trying to encode/decode? Are they files (avi, mov etc)? If so I use VSO Divx to DVD. It is fast and flexible. I can put a blank DVD in my drive and forget about it. The program takes care of the rest. It also burns to disc using whatever program you wish (mine is CopytoDVD). If you are looking to backup discs then use DVD Decrypter, then DVD Shrink to fit to a blank 4.5gb disc (usually takes an hour and a half on my system which is only a P3 933mhz 256mb!).
Hope this helps
