Using Regedit to remove ALL vestiges of an uninstalled program
Hi there.
I have a demo copy of a great photo editing program called SuperJPG. I want to buy it, but the people who made and sold it (Midnight Blue Software) retired, so it's impossible to get a license key. In fact, I was very lucky to find a download site that still had the file up, and it's an older version of the program. As an alternative, I want to uninstall and reinstall it every thirty days, which is possible. However, when I do that, the installation recognizes that it's been through one demo period already and disables a new set of features. So, every reinstall it loses a set of features, which I generally have to use. So, does anyone know if there's a way to edit the registry (or do anything at all) so that when I reinstall the program it doesn't know that it's being reinstalled, but thinks its the first time? When I open the registry editor and search for the term SuperJPG, there are several hits. Please keep in mind, I'm an intermediate user. I've done registry editing before with very careful guidance from experts, but it's been a while. I certainly would rather find another program than trash my computer - although for my purposes this program is light years better than anything I've found out there. Thanks for any help, Chris |

What you are asking Chris is bordering on the edge of Rule number 9 of the forum rules and as such I don't think anyone can help you with the problem.

It's really a gray area when we are talking about abandonware - so I'm going to stick my neck out a bit here without getting specific. There are ways to find license keys, and let's leave it at that. I'm going to close the thread. Good luck.

Before you start backdooring your way, have you tried contacting the coders and see if they will help you? They might if you're such a fan of them.
There are 2 methods of contact - their old support email address, that is available from the Internet Archive: http://web.archive.org/web/200404021...ehelp/help.htm Or from their domain name's registry records: Quote:
