Can't Install DirectX 9.0c

I just purchaed a copy of Sid Meier's Pirates, and I am having trouble installing it. Before I can install the game, it asks me to install todirectx 9.0c . When I say "OK", it gets a few seconds into the installation before saying "A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted." and then I have to cancel the installtion. I can continue to install Pirates, but it gives me an error when I try to play the game without the directx upgrade. Does anyone have an idea how i can get the directx installed, or what i'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Try downloading it directly from MS: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried downloading and installing it from microsoft.com, but after downloading it, I got the same error.

My computer is an Acer TravelMate 250 laptop 2.4 ghz 256 ram, and plenty of space on the hard drive.

No one knows what I'm doing wrong? Do you think i should reinstall my vid card drivers, or should i go all the way and reinstall my OS? I think that my computer should be able to run this game, even if it only just has the min sys requirements. Let me know what you think.
