Limewire won't open or run...
I been using the download service Limewire for some time now on my old pc, but now that I built my new system I had to redownload it and stuff. I had it working fine, but now when I click the icon or even right click run and stuff it does not open the program. What should I do guys...Thanks!
Do you think its my windows firewall? **EDIT** not the firewall because I turn it off...still no open.

I use Limewire also, I would recommend Unistalling it then re download it, or download the latest patches for it. Limewire gets bugged up sometimes do you have a error message when opening it up or just nothing happens?

Did uninstall and re-install 2 times. Nothing happens when I open it...no messages or anything.
Where are the new patches? I just downloaded the new version of Limewire. |

That happend to me as well, all that i had to do was delete the shortcut and make a new one directly from the limewire directory.
Discussion about p2p here on PCM is questionable, I would refrain from these types of questions or take them elsewhere. namakan |

not really. P2Ping isnt whats illegal. If your just sending uncopyrighted material.. then there isnt any problem. If its copyrighted.. then your in big doodoo lol.

as far as i know P2P discussions are quite alright as long as the questions are nt in relation to activating or problem solving pirated software.
Edited to reflect Yuanji's response (i'm big enough to admit when I have been mistaken!) - thanks for correction! Last edited by JAYMAN; 04-27-2005 at 06:54 PM. |

Have you tried to run the program from the start menu and not the shortcut?

Yes...no worky. I tried everything for it. It works fine on my HP computer, and used to work on this until I closed it and now it won't open, so I uninstalled it 3 times, and reinstalled it (restarted computer a few times sence then too), still doesnt want to open the program. What it does is- I click on it, it blinks once and back to nothing happening.

Yeah I figured something like this was mostly ok..just figured I'd get it out there in case it came up etc.
When you look in task manager is there the "limewire.exe" running? namakan |

seems like NO as per last post..... hmmm hard to say why that program refuses to launch. Have you tried going into the program files and launching it from the .exe?

Limewire Sucks go with DC++ its confusing at first, but once you get the just, its amazing. Here are some directions- Directions:
http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/ 1. After you install go to settings under File. 2. In settings, it will come up Username and Email, and Connection. Make a Username, and give your email and Connection. After this, click connection, and click passive. 3. Click Sharing in the left box in settings, and give all you've got music or movies or anything. It's about the only way to get a lot of music from good hubs, and below click about 8 slots (where it says slots). 4. After you give you share, go to File, Quick Connect. 5. Go into your web browser, and go here http://www.hublist.org/ 6. Type in the type of music you want, and a whole bunch of hubs will come up. 7. Copy, and Paste the hub name you like, in Quick Connect. 8. If you connect sucessfully, click the magnifiying glass (Not the one with the eye, the other one), and do a search for whatever you want. If you don't, check your firewall, or go back to step 3. |
