Web Creation Software

Hi all,

I'll be working on creating a couple webpages this summer. I was wondering what kinds of programs everyone uses out there for this task. I know there is Dreamweaver and Frontpage, but is there anything else that's good and won't break the bank? Thanks in advance.

I created my first webpages by using Microsoft Notepad. Every tag in my source was written. Unlike in WYSIWYG Tools like Dreamweaver, which Im using right now and I love it. I still type the codes and don't do drag and dropping. I lke the way you can view immediately the appearance or design of your page. and errors will immediately appear. Try the latest version which I haven't used but heard good reviews of it. Use other softwares like Macromedia Flash and Adobe Photoshop to create a well designed website.

I do the initial design with the Mozilla editor or Nvu (the both produce clean and readable code), then edit the generated HTML/CSS by hand to tweak things.

Mozilla Composer - it's free. Arachnophilia is a good free code-based editor, the latest version is a Java application that will run on any platform.

Thanks guys. What kind of imaging program do you recommend for creating websites? Sure there is Adobe Photoshop, but it's very expensive. Since I'm a beginner, would I be better off with something like Paint Shop Pro? Thanks again.

PSP is almost as capable as Photoshop at a fraction of the price. Perhaps the open source Gimp might do the job for you.
