Outlook is driving me mad - please help.

Hi
I am the least technical person using this site I should imagine, however I am at the end of my tether. For no apparent reason, about 5 times a day when I have outlook open, I get a message saying the programme is not responding and I have to end the programme and restart. I have absolutley no idea why this is happening. Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

More details, please. Version of Windows? Outlook or Outlook Express, and which version?

Have you done virus and spyware scans?

That sounds like a mass mailing trojan, as glc says can you tell us what version of windows you are using and what if any antivirus and spyware scanners are you using?

I am using XP Professional, Outlook and Norton Anti-virus (corporate strength) as well as Spybot search and destroy. None of these has picked anything up...
Thanks for getting in touch so quickly.

A bit hasty to make that assumption. It could be a lot of things. Also a good portion of worms nowadays don't even bother to use your email client to send email. They have their own smtp engine.

In addition to the version (Help/About will show you the version), it would be helpful to know whether you have any add on software to Outlook installed. A hunch would be that Norton is causing the hang up but that is just a guess.

It says Outlook 2002 SP2. I don't have any add on software - but I synchronise with a PDA and Maxtor One touch external back up drive.
