office XP
my mums computer is very slow and clogged up with rubbish, im planning on reformating the hard drive, i have already installed office XP on 2 computers, that is the maximum number it can be put on, my mums computer is one of them, will i beable to run it properly with out extra cost when the computer has been reformatted ? thanx

Once upon a time you could install Office that came with a Notebook onto a desktop also. This is/was provided you didn't use em at the same time.

With Office XP, you can activate it on 2 computers. Technically, the second computer must be a laptop. In your case, you can call Microsoft, explain that you had to reformat, and they will give you an activation.
The EULA that Rightcoast is referring to is for Office 2003, they dropped the permission to put a second copy on a laptop. |

The Student and Teacher Editions of MS Office allow for multiple installations but not the full versions. You can install the S&T version on 3 computers.
