I have a similar problem to another user and I cannot find any help to solve the problem.
I have been using limewire for sometime with no troubles but 5 days ago When I click on the icon nothing happens.. I get the eggtimer like something is going to open but then nothing. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating to newer version, going back to older version, clicking exe in programs, deleting shortcut.. nothing. It is not running in the task manager. Interestingly enough when I downloaded the new version it asked me if I wanted to run the program now, so I clicked yes, and still nothing happened...right back to my desktop. I found this at a Mac Site (I have a normal computer and windows XP): Hello, There is a java bug in 10.3.9 that is affecting some users. LimeWire will not launch and Safari crashes on some java sites. The solution for me was to go to Apple's site, download the 2005-02 security update and install it. Hope it works for you too. Thanks to crarko and macfixit.com for the solution.I have went to windows to make sure my files are up to date... and I really just don't know what else to do. There must be a solution but I'm not computer savvy enough to figure it out and would greatly appreciate some assistance Oh note that I did one thing differently in the past few days... I did download the new Java that Limewire asked me to..... Thanks muchly Pepper |

Have you tried rebooting?
What version of JVM are you running?

Yes I have tried rebooting several times. I looked at the Java in my start menu-it says it's JRE 1.3.1_04. I know very little about Java I'm afraid.
Thank you for replying ![]() Pep |

ok.. now I am a tad confused.. when I looked that is what it said I have, but when I clicked on the download for version 5 it says I already have that installed. When I went to play my Pogo games I found out that they no longer work either.
When I was using Limewire 6 days ago, it asked me if I wanted to install another version of Java and I clicked ok... and I think that is where the problems started. I'll try uninstalling the Java and reinstalling it? grrrr this is so frustrating Ok when I went to the add/remove it says I have J2SE Runtime 5.0 Update 2 and also Java 2 runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3..1_04 I know nothing about Java.. but does that sound ok? If I have the newest update why is it screwing up both Limewire and Pogo Thanks, Pep Last edited by Pepper; 05-16-2005 at 07:39 PM. Reason: New information |

I uninstalled Msn, msn toolbar and java then reinstalled the Java....Both pogo and Limewire work now.... but I am not so sure about downloaded the msn again... I kept getting errors for stmain.dll. I looked that up and it came with MSN 7.0 and now I'm a bit scared to download it again... Thank you GLC and ForceFlow for helping me out I greatly appreciate it. Take care, Pepper |
