I have some DVDs in the PAL format. Can anyone walk me through the conversion process to NTSC?

Why?
Does your player not play them properly? (Most will, check the players menu). If not, the best (this is a subjective term) way, is to rip, re-encode, reauthor, and burn. Rip the files to elementary streams using ReJig, file mode (or DVD Decrypter, or DVDShrink. If you get an mpg, demux to m2v and ac3. Load the resulting m2v into an encoder. Encode it to 720x480 (letterboxing if necessary to preserve aspect ratio), but KEEP the framerate at 25fps. If your encoder outputs an mpg, demux it to m2v video and discard the mp2 audio. Once you have the newly encoded m2v, get DGPulldown. Open the m2v, in dgpulldown, and select 25fps -> 29.97fps Load the finished dgpulldown.m2v and the original ripped AC3 audio into an authoring program. This method preserves audio sync, and maintains NTSC compatibility. |
