How to make cd to play music and view pics on a player...
I want to make a cd containing audio tracks and jpeg's that someone can put in a multi-format-type dvd player and listen to the music while they view the pictures, sort of like a slideshow. Any advice on how to do this? What program is needed and how much would it cost? Does it take a special type of player?
Thanks for any help with this, JH

You can download a trial version of VCD easy at http://www.vcdeasy.org/
Most newer set top players will recognize and play a VideoCD. Or you could invest in DVD-RW drive and experiment with some video editing software like Pinnacle or Ulead. More expensive, but more widely readable in players and alot more options.

You need help making the actual cd, or compiling the stuff together?
You know you could use Windows Movie Maker -- cheapest I can think of since it comes with Windows XP -- and you could drop your pictures into it along with some music. I'm sure there's a function which would allow you to extend the length of the frame which your pictures resides on, and then just drop a dissolve transition between it and your next picture. Then you drop some music below it and fade it in and out. I'm sorry, but I use Adobe Premiere Pro myself, though I did use WMM once. WMM is basically a very very trimmed down version of Premiere. I say this because it's a simple way to create an avi file which you could burn on a vcd through the program Kov-Ice put the link for. This would play on most dvd players, though not all. I know dvd players can play just pictures, but I dont know how you would create a slideshow of that including music through just the vcd program. I'm sure you could do it somehow, but I'm not certain. I would just use windows movie maker -- through it you could learn how to create some basic movies and you'd have a lot of fun. If you want to PM me or keep posting here I would walk you through it step by step with no problem. I enjoy movie editing - I'm thinkng about making a career out of it. Good luck in whatever you choose.

Thanks for the help,
I have XP, but haven't used the Windows Movie Maker yet. I may try playing around with it and see what I can figure out. JH |
