Talking What's the Difference between "Restore" & "Restore"???

Hello,
This may sound very stupid but here it goes,
I recently purchased a new laptop for my wife.(now maybe I'll get my Gateway back).
To my disappointment, the new laptop does not include the separate standard "Restore" CD's. A "System Restore" program is already stored on the HDD. And the restore program does work, I tested it myself. It reformats the HDD back to a point where you took the laptop "out of the box".

BUT.....What happens down the road if I ever have a bad HDD? OR Maybe just want to upgrade the HDD because of the speed/size?
Everything would get removed/replaced including my XP OS.
I checked the company's website, and there's nothing to download.
I DO have the Key Code tag for XP on the bottom of the laptop.

I have Nero Ultra 6, When the software says it can make a "Restore Back-up" disk, Is that the same as what I would have received if the laptop would have come with "Restore" CD disks?
If not, How can I protect & back-up my entire laptop including drivers/OS/bundled software in the event of a HDD failure???

Gosh, I hope this isn't the new cost saving trend - no CD's to reload...

Hope this is clear enough...
Thanks!

Glad you asked.
You have to create your own restore disks for that notebook and most people only find that out the hard way.
Go here for how to instructions : http://support.gateway.com/s/SOFTWAR...LXPH1su3.shtml

You were right, by the way, that's one of the things Nero is for.

Also check here : http://support.gateway.com/s/SOFTWAR...LXPH1su6.shtml

If you turned off the "remind me" function when you first started the notebook.
