Photo Software

I don't know if there is such a thing but I am looking for some software or something that will let me add "tags?" to a photo like the people that are in it, the place, the event, when it was taken etc. So that when I am searching for a photo of John Doe, I just type that name in somewhere and all the pics with John in it are listed/shown.

Is there anything like that out there? Freeware?

XP kind of has this built in.
You can right click on a .jpg file for example and go to the Summary tab. You can then fill in Title, Subject etc etc.

In My Pictures folder you can add these columns to display in detail view.

Cool. Never really noticed that.
Thanks EzyStvy.

That's what I meant but I'm kind of think that software built specifically for that would be better because then it would be easier/faster to enter the info/keywords and you could searchfor them a little better maybe. So I'll try this for now.

If anybody sees or knows of a program something like this please let me know, thanks.

Am not a graphic artisit or anything, but if XP will do it then I am pretty sure any other software can, if for no other reason you can add layers to a graphic and the added layer has the text.

Check out SnapFiles.com
http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html
They have tons of stuff....

Mp3 Tag Tools is a small, fast mp3 tag editing utility that includes several features such as Mass Tagging, Renaming Tags from Filenames, Renaming Filenames From Tags and Custom Formats. You can also clean file names of unwanted characters and more. Mp3 Tag Tools uses a special function that reads and displays the full contents of your mp3 tags, including any junk characters that actually may reside in your tags. This allows you to create absolutely clean ID3 tags, as though they were created for the first time. Mp3 Tag Tools can accurately read all MPEG header information, even for mp3s with false frame syncs. It can also copy/ynchronize ID3v1.1 and ID3v2.x tags, export tag data as tab delimited text files and create directories from tag data to organize your mp3 files.

NodeSoft Search And Replace allows you to search several files or directories and replace a specified text within the files. You can filter the files to be processed based on their extension and optionally process subdirectories as well. The Extended Mode allows you to replace any text that is found between a user defined start tag and end tag (or text), for example, you could replace any text that is found between the ... tags of your HTML files.

I think at one point or another it's been able to do anything and everything. But for some reason Microsoft won't release it.
