Why not just use the OS to create another boot disk?

Insert the Windows 2000 CD in drive, go to Start, Run, enter D:\bootdisk\makebt32 a: where D: is your CD-ROM drive.

Are you coping to the hard drive first or are you using diskcopy?
One little bitty spec of dust on the original floppy could be the cause. I would go to www.bootdisk.com and grab one of theirs. |

Well I found I have a few copies of startup, what I have done is copied different floppy's to HD . Set up a folder called (startup) then after formatting a floppy I try to copy from (startup) to floppy it copies okay but if I try to boot off of one of the floppy's I get the NTLDR error????????

I'm not sure, but aren't some of those required files system or hidden files? Have you checked the folder properties to see that hidden files are being displayed? Maybe the W2K environment is missing those when you're copying over. Just a thought.

Just for grins, go to the link I posted above and get one of their Win98 bootdisk files and see if you can boot from it.

What's your goal? Are you trying to boot the W2K box from the 98 boot disk? Does 98 even use the NTLDR boot loader? I thought that was just for NT based systems.

Thank's all AL |

When coping to and from the hard drive, Popping the floppy out one fraction of a second too soon could cause the problem.

I copy bootdisks with 2K all the time, at the command prompt (NOT the Run box).
diskcopy a: a: Follow the prompts. |
