stupid question

I'm fairly inexperienced here and trying to figure things out, but I have what will sound like a really stupid question to you guys.

What's the difference between a burner and ripper program?

Thanks.

no question is stupid, stupid is the one who dont ask questions.

a burner program like NERO is used to write data into a digital media(CD/DVD).
a ripper program like DVD DECRYPTER is used to read/get DVD image/data from the media to a hard drive or onto another DVD disc.
