Hey there, just wondering if a program exizts that allows you to change the start up splash screen, and even add some music to it. Thanks.

you know when you boot windows and it shows the (in my case) ASUS motherboard screen, then shortly after i get the Windows XP screen. I remember hearing of a way to make it so you can have any splash screen you want, like change it to a car and have maybe an engine reving or something. Anyways hope that helps, thx for the quick response

I don't think you can play sounds with the windows splash screen, but you can change it.

This is only one possible program you can use: http://www.belchfire.net/~userxp

A google search will probably turn up many more.

I use StyleXP. Lets you change everything, themes, styles, icons, splash screen, backgrounds, and all that good stuff.

Do a google search for it, I have suddenly become too lazy to find a link.

I used stylexp to change my windows bootup screen once and it wouldnt boot into windows afterward......but i have bad luck like that. Adding sound would be cool though, couldnt you just find the sound file window uses when it boots and replace it with a different sound file? Now you know why bad things happen to me lol.

I personally have, knock on wood, have not had a problem with StyleXP.

The sound file that Windows uses has to be located somewhere on the machine. So just find the path to it (like its that easy) and replace it with Madonna if you want.

EDIT: Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - Sounds (Tab) - Sound "Windows Start". There is a browse option, just select a song, sound, fart, burp whatever, but it has to be .wav though.

heh just found an engine revving .wav sound file, time to test it out. I wonder if theres any restriction on length or size of the sound file.

this is a bit off topic but does anyone know of an image editor that lets u format bitmaps in 4-bit (16 color) ? bootskinds can only use 4-bit images atm.
