Registry repair
I have Registry Fix & Registry Mechanic trial versions. I ran them last night & they found 214 problems- fixed 16 & 117 problems- fixed 7 respectively.
Can I trust either of these to fix the problems? Do they actually repair or just remove bad entries leaving me to recover them later? I'm not sure how they work. Is there a better program out there? I've had problems with this thing for years & I guess I'm due to finally get some of these registry problems fixed. I just want to know that it's going to work before I invest more money in a 7 yr. old machine. Tia. Acer Aspire 333Mhz Win98(originally) now 98SE 256 meg ram C:\ 40G 98SE D:\ 3G 98 |

I see no need to pay for tools when there's decent freeware alternatives. Try CCleaner.

Thanks for the links. If I get rid of all of the clutter & junk that shouldn't be there anymore & I have corrupted entries, will it just affect the the associated programs or cause general problems?
