Save DVDs to hdd so i can watch them off comp
Is there a program where i can copy a DVD to my hard drive so that i can WATCH IT...im not talking about dvd decryptor, i want a file that can actually watch. i dont need high quality, as what i am doing is just putting my seasons on DVD of simpsons and family guy on the computer to watch from there. this will be easier then all the individual disks. I want it to look good, but not take up tons of space (for example, 1 gig per disk would be fine.)

you can use either DVDx or Gordian Knot, but ripping will be very CPU / HDD intensive and takes a looooooooooong time per disk.( like 12hr/DVD)
If you have boardband Internet access, use BitTorrent to download the shows instead...less headache, less time. |

use dvd decrypter to rip your movies. it takes around 20-30 minutes to complete.
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi..._decrypter.cfm edit: sorry just skimmed the initial post didnt see that you dont want to use dvd decrypter.

After you get them on to your computer the vlc player works great IMO and plays alot better quality than the standard media player plus if the videos need codecs to play vlc has all of them.

Daemon Tools is one way to tackle playing the DVD via iso files.

you got that right! I dont know about US laws but our Parliament(Federal Government) here in Canada just pass a law to allow consumers make one legal copy of their media so as to combat privcy of copyrighted stuffs.( anything more one copy will be consider illegal) |
