That is one of the most difficult things to do in audio - there are few programs or plugins that do a capable job simply do to today's production techniques. The only one I'm aware of that is free is from analogx.com: http://www.analogx.com/contents/down...o/vremover.htm It's as good as any other type of program - and like I said, due to today's production techniques, it's just not that good.
The DirectX version requires a audio editor like WaveLab, Cakewalk, Sonar or the like - any stereo editor that will accept DirectX plugins. The easiest way for you to go is most likely the WinAmp plug-in since it uses WinAmp which is another freebie.

We used to use Acid Pro back in my high school broadcast video class. I'm sure that's outdated now, but it seemed to do fairly well. Only a few people ever took the time to fool with it though (I was not one of them) so when they graduated the disk went back on the shelf.

Don't expect much - it doesn't work very well - as I said, removing vocals from a recording is one of the most difficult things to do in the audio field. I our studio we have a $2000 piece of hardware that has a difficult time doing it - don't expect much from freeware. |

For a good, free editor, you want Audacity.
