Remotely Connecting to another PC
I sorry if this has been covered again, but I heard its possible for me to access another computer remotely and have access to all folders and programs etc.
Is this done through an internet connection? Or do I need other hardwrae for this |

I can be done over the internet along with software like PCANYWHERE or Win XP has the built in capability to do that but I think the connecting PC has to be XP pro version..

I use UltraVNC, its works pretty well. If you use it be sure to use the encryption plugin.

Where is the other pc located? If it's in the same room/building networking would be a good idea. If it's across the country then yes, you'll need to connect through the internet.

XP has already built in capability for remote PC connections, I just can't remember the details, but I do seem to remember one has to be pro version. Use windows help and it should explain all the details..

no i already have my remote connection setup. im running windows server 2003 small biz at home. im connecting from my work pc to my server at home while im at work.
i was just wondering if the xp remote desktop connection had the encryption feature like the ultra vnc software does that ghost2003 mentioned? i dont see it as an option when you open up the program so i was curious if it was a hidden feature, or if its already built into the program? |

I just started using logmein.com after much trial and error with realVNC and Putty. It's pretty darn easy and free as well. Maybe someone could post a basic tutorial or something on VNC's and tunneling- I know I would appreciate it!
