Corrupt office install

My Microsoft Office 2000 has become corrupted. I can't delete it through add/remove , I can't do a repair on it. Says a patch file is missing. I can't get any patches to install. I've been through Microsoft's trouble shooter and deleted all the files it recommends with no help there either. Question is should I just delete the whole office file and reinstall. There is nothing I'll lose as far as information is concerned. Or is there a file somewhere where I could delete all of the patches and reinstall them. They are not normally available in add/remove to delete them.

TIA
James

OK ,here is what I did , I deleted the folder with Office 2000 in it , it still wouldn't let me reinstall . Found a uninstaller clean up utility from Microsoft , used that and it cleaned Office from my system completely. I could then reinstall Office 2000 and all of the service packs and security updates. So it's back working again.
