Windows Professional 64-Bit Question.

Hey everyone, I have never heard about this 64 bit thing. Is it good? I heard people say that most applications dont run in 64-bit yet and some devices dont have 64-bit drivers. So thats bad right? Whats so good about 64-bit windows pro?

Here's a very nice article by X-bit Labs on the subject of MS Windows XP x64 - that page specifically, on the advantages. The drawbacks, like you mentioned, is that it is still rather new - a majority of the x86 platform users are still solidly behind 32-bit processors.

Sorry, my english isn't very good, there are many words i dont understand.
Is this 64 bit good for gaming? I want to play Counter-Strike 1.6 (www.steampowered.com), Maplestory (www.mapleglobal.com), and some other game like half life 2 and doom3. If I got 64-bit, can I downgrade to windows professional?

Oh yes I am probably getting amd instead of pentium.
