Firefox vs Opera
i've been using firefox for about a year now and i'm happy to say that it didn't caused me problems. but only issue about firefox is that sometimes i cant get into a certain site. for example, when i watch music videos from yahoo.launch.com, i get an error saying, it requires netscape and etc... although there's an extension to play launch at yahoo. the plugin doesn't even work for me. my question is would opera resolve this issues?

You won't know until you try it. You can install all kinds of browsers on your computer - I personally have 5 of them.

i found out that Opera doesn't have much significant advantage's over firefox. i like the firefox aproach that you can select optional features through extensions unlike Opera most of the features are already included in the package.

Opera is free if you can put up with an ad banner in the toolbar area.
If ActiveX is *required* you must use IE or an IE-based browser such as Maxthon. |

i didn't even know Maxthon exist. next time i'll try using Maxthon and Opera to see which one is the best. Seriously IE is very much a problem itself!!! the only reason i still have IE is getting updates for XP!

they can have many IE' versions they want, and most likely you'd be browsing for patches for them. GOOD LUCK!! i'm guessing IE 9 is in the horizon... by then i probably can master up LINUX!!!

A friendly piece of advice...
The funny thing about comments like these is that you're going to be frequently wrong. The idea is to choose a browsing habit that works for you for the present, not the future. When IE first came out, there were cries of "Netscape or bust" etc. ... well those people enjoyed watching Netscape go bust. Perhaps the Mozilla project was the push Microsoft needed to take IE to newer heights - IE5.0 and IE6.0 had very little enhancements.
When a new browser comes out, give it a try, see if it works for you and then choose what you like. We've got enough things that we're born into and feel we must stick with without having to add operating systems and browsers into that category. |

Yes it it is interesting. What we're trying to impress upon people is that Firefox is not the solution to all the malware out there. Yes, at the moment, it seems to be built up with a lot more merits than its contemporaries - but that's not to say that it will be the case forever. It's partially also the nature of the beast, as more people start hunting for firefox vulnerabilities - so too will patches come along.
It's not invulnerable, you still have to mix in healthy doses of common sense if you want to be clean of malware. I use Firefox not because I was prone to spyware etc before, but because I find the browsing experience better - I get a lot more control over content. If IE7 can better it, more power to me! |

since discovering Opera about a year ago, i've only used that, i used to have to use IE for certian pages gmail, and some other activeX ones but with ver 8 everythings working, and the new "mouse-movements-to-navigate-thing" is really great!

Maxthon is hardly a threat to IE, if IE disappeared tomorrow, most likely Maxthon would follow suit. Maxthon is just an enhanced to IE; uses the same browsing engine, with some added functionality. It should be interesting to see what direction Maxthon will take after IE7.

I certainly hope Maxthon sticks around. It doesn't just have "some" added functionality. It has A LOT of added functionality. More than Opera or Firefox.
