What Operating System does the system use? MS Windows XP Professional comes with a build-in Remote Assistance feature.

Logmein (http://www.logmein.com) is a remote program that I use, it just runs through your browser. You will notice a bit of choppyness due to this, but it's good for servicing computers, which is mostly what I've used it for in the past.

hpw about a firewall? My firewall Zone Alarms which is free tells me what is connected and which port.
Or use netstat in command line (http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...s/netstat.mspx ) i know that it is a XP pro doc but it will work on win 2k as well
