Outlook 2003 - Can't SEND Email - Please Help

Windows XP
MSN
Outlook 2003

I cannot send email. I get the following error:
Task 'MSN - Sending" reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP).

I can receive email. I can also send/receive from MSN on the web.

I think? the problem started two days ago when my computer unexpectedly shut down. Figured it was a corrupted file or something. Here is what I have tried so far:

1. Installed Outlook 2003 and deleted 2002 version (I can't find my 2002 discs so figured might as well install 2003 that I had handy). problem still persists.

2. Created a new email account. Made sure everything was filled out the same. Made sure on the outgoing mail the SPA box was checked. Problem still persists.
When I "Test Account Settings" everything works except for the sending test email. Sending Test Email fails.

3. Created a new profile, deleted the old outlook profile, restarted the computer. Problem still persists.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you for your time.
Val

If you have SBC Yahoo! DSL I was having the same problem with Outlook 2003. Unforunately, Outlook 2003 isn't fully supported by them.

You can downgrade yourself to Outlook Express, or do what I did, and go get Mozilla Thunderbird for free.

Outlook 2003 may not be fully supported by SBC, but it's easy to configure it. I've done that for customers many times.

I am using Microsoft Network (msn.com). I would think that their defaults for their products would be correct (port 25)

The problem just started two days ago when my computer shut down unexpectedly, so I believe something is corrupted... Just don't know what. that is why I tried deleting the profile, email acct, etc.

ob1, in addition to what Mulderman has posted, go into "more settings", outgoing server, check the box for authentication, same settings as incoming.

Girl, try doing a system restore back to a date before the crash, then reinstall Outlook.

Well, I did the system restore back to when I was successfully sending emails. Re-installed outlook. Still can't send

Made a new profile (again) along with new email account... Made sure Authentication was checked. Still can't send

Any other suggestions? Looks like I will have to call tech support at MSN on Monday...
