Cubase installation changed my hard drive IDE configuration. HD creeps along.
Cubase installation changed my hard drive IDE configuration somehow. Hard drive creeps along after reboot.
It said something about "IDE somethingorother isn't set on your hard drive, would you like to change it to increase MIDI quality?" Something like that. Of course I clicked yes without paying much attention. Anyway, I reboot as directed and I creep along unable to do anything at all. In BIOS I tried to find anything with IDE in it and change it to try and fix the problem like an amatuer... Anyway IDE controller was on "Both." I changed it to "Primary" (the hardrive only) and my computer functions smoothly. HOWEVER my CD-Rom is secondary IDE so now in My Computer, I can't see my CD-Rom obviously. But if I switch it back to both it sounds like my hard drive is getting slammed. Anyways can any of you speculate what it changed in my HD to make MIDI files "better?" Maybe if I can change THAT, I can switch the IDE controler to "Both" in BIOS so I can see my D: drive without creeping along. |

It enabled UDMA support. But you'll experience exactly what you're describing if your hard drive doesn't offer UDMA or you have a UDMA hard drive without using a 80 pin cable.
BTW, using Cubase without a UDMA hard drive is really pointless - VSTi and VST effects are effectively rendered useless. All of that is covered in the installation guide as I recall.
