convert text to image ?
I used "OfficePrinter" to convert some text to a .bmp
to put on a webpage but it looks very faded and pixelated. Is this a weakness of my software ? What do most people use ? |

Might try pasting the text into Paint and saving as JEPG.

If at all possible you should avoid putting just text on a site as an image unless: it is part of a graphic or it is uses a super fancy font that you can't live without.
You should never save it as a bmp. For text, it is best to save it as a gif. This way the text doesn't look slurry. If it is a picture, save it as a jpg. bmp's are uncompressed files and take up way too much space. Also make sure that you aren't resizing the image on the fly. Several programs that you can use. On the cheap side, Adobe Photoshop Elements works pretty well. On the high end side Photoshop and Illustrator are your best choices.

Yes , thats why- couldnt live with the whole site in Times and Ariel You should never save it as a bmp. For text, it is best to save it as a gif. This way the text doesn't look slurry. Bmp is the only thing my cheesy program will export as. I tried Paint, Ezystvy, but it wont open text files. Only tried .rtf but I assume its the same for all text files. I'll search some of my old hard drives and see if I can find some old bundled Adobe program if no one here knows of a freebie that can convert text to .jpeg. Thanks. EDIT: Found out how to create & export jpeg from PaintshopPro. Looks great. Last edited by Parangles; 07-27-2005 at 11:29 AM. |
