check with your software manufacturer they should have the patchs to make your programs run in xp or use the compatibility feature in xp and it will run it as if u had a different os on it. just right click on the programs icon and choose properties, then click the compatibility tab.

Hey, True ks! It's so easy, that you couldn't even imagine it. Recently I made the same with my PC. I had one partition "C" 40 Gb. where I have installed Windows 2000, and I wanted to install XP. So I was recommended to use partition manager to shrink "C" (I got 30 Gb), then created new partition 10Gb and install XP on it. Using this software you could install another OS on the same partition, but I prefer extra partition for that. You'll be able to access all files on both OSs. Good luck!

Never install more than one OS on a partition, especially two versions of Windows. The computer will get some sort of Alzheimers and confuse which My Documents and whatever it's running and searching. It's a pain in the butt.
For installing another OS, I'd recommed purchasing another hard drive, rather than a partition manager. It'll cost the same or cheaper. Install the new OS to a fresh hard drive and just swap them out for the C. It'll make your life a lot easier.

Use Software Partition Magic to devide your hard drive it means two partitions and use Software Partition Commander to manage them. Last edited by submaster; 08-21-2005 at 10:14 PM. |

You can partition your hard drive with Windows XP(during installation), you don't need a third party software. Or you can use F-disk with awindows boot disk.
