Screen Saver Crashes
Hi, and thanks for reading.
I have a problem with my screen saver, http://www.screenthemes.com/ that doesn't seem to have any pattern. Sometimes it will run for hours, other times not even one minute. Faulting application stsaver.scr, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module mciqtz32.dll, version 6.5.2600.2180, fault address 0x000031c9. This started happening after I installed one of the cd's that came with my 9800 PRO All in Wonder. At first I only installed the drivers, then I wanted to start using the card to it's full ability, and it was either Matchware Mediator 7 or Pinnacle Studio 8 that I installed and started having these crashes. I used this screen saver on 3 different computers over the years and have never seen this error message before. Not really sure what it means, or what to do about it. I have ScreenThemes 2.22.03 and Mike told me that he is releasing a beta of version 3.0 soon and will make me one of the testers, but I would really like to get this fixed. I had this error with my computer in March, got a new harddrive and made a clean install, then the error message started happening again after I installed the ATI software again. I love this program so much I might just get a 6600 GT. This is the only ATI card I have ever used, all the other ones over the years have all been nVidea. But I really do like the idea of having an All in Wonder. Even though I don't have it working correctly yet.

This may hold a clue:
http://www.cdstorager.com/cd-catalog/contact.htm Q: How to resolve the program crashes caused by mciqtz32.dll? This is caused by some incorrect mpeg codec which installed with your Windows Media Player. To resolve this problem, deleting the entry of mciqtz32.dll in the registry under this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI32\MPEGVideo |

Thanks for the reply, I sent a letter to Mike, and he did a Google search and emailed me the same link. I just deleted it, so I'll have to wait awhile and see if I still have the error.
I did a Google search myself and didn't find anything, but I had to leave the house after only a few minutes. I'll post again in a day or so to let you know the results. |

Screen saver ran for hours without trouble, but now it won't play any music. I had the pictures based on a musical theme, and now if I manualy open the program and play sounds I can an MCI Open Error. "The specified device is not open or is not recognized by MCI".
I even reinstalled the program and same error, I'll try to reinstall Windows Media Player, and let you know what happens. EDIT -- Reinstalled WMP, music works on the screen saver, just have to wait now to see if it will run properly. Last edited by Marke522; 07-31-2005 at 08:52 PM. |

Nope, still crashes when it wants to. No telling how long it will run.
