instant message software on a LAN
Is there any free software that does IM across a LAN without connecting to the internet? I've been using messenger in my office, but the staff have been using it for personal use more often now. If not free, what about recommendations for trialware
Also, is there a way to block windows messenger from connecting outside our router by blocking a port? |

Hmm...I seem to remember Floppyman working on an IM project a while back. You may want to try dropping him a PM about it.

You can send messages to other computer on the LAN by using console messaging in Computer Management... the positive/negative being that this message appears in front of everything the person is doing, and they'll need to return to the desktop
