MPEG-2 Codec Recommendation

I need a recommendation for a solid, FREEWARE MPEG-2 codec for Windows XP (Media Player 10). I'm having some color issues. If you have a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra video card in your system, please note that in your response.

I'm guessing you're using the latest 77.72 Forceware drivers? It's a common issue with them, not a codec problem. I had the same problem when I first installed them.

Try this:

Open Media Player, click on TOOLS in the top bar, click on OPTIONS, Click
the PERFORMANCE tab, click the ADVANCED button and check the USE HIGH QUALITY box.

Or this:

Go the GeForce control panel, color correction, change the top drop down box to "all", apply and OK.

Either fix should work.
